5L Hydrochloric Acid - pH decrease (liquid).

Hydrochloric acid (also known as pool acid or muriatic acid) is used to lower the pH and reduce Total Alkalinity in swimming pools and spas. Keeping pH in the correct range ensures your chlorine works properly, the water feels comfortable, and protects equipment and surfaces.

Why pH matters

If the pH is too high, the pool water becomes less effective at sanitising, can turn cloudy, and scale may form. Hydrochloric acid brings the pH back into balance.

What hydrochloric acid does

  • Reduces high pH levels
  • Lowers Total Alkalinity
  • Helps prevent scale forming on pool surfaces and equipment
  • Improves chlorine efficiency

Where we use it

We use hydrochloric acid during our water test & balance and valet services to keep your pool or spa within the ideal pH range of 7.2–7.6.

Safe handling

Hydrochloric acid is a corrosive chemical, so please:

  • Store in an upright position in a cool, well-ventilated place
  • Keep away from children and pets
  • Never mix with chlorine or other chemicals
  • Add acid to water — never water to acid
